“Grandad put on his glasses, the kind that made writing clear, but everything else rather blurry.”
The Carrot Cake Catastrophe is by Elizabeth Dale and Gemma Raynor and published by Parragon. Grandad and Jenny rabbit decide to make a carrot cake as a special surprise for Jenny’s Mummy’s birthday. With Grandad in charge of finding the ingredients, and wearing blurry glasses you can imagine what goes wrong! Soap instead of butter, salt instead of sugar, sadly the cake doesn’t turn out well. The story has a lovely positive ending though, with Jenny surprising her Mum anyway, and everyone getting cake.
Wonder Girl really likes this book, having helped me bake she can identify with it. We’ve read it every day this week! The illustrations are adorable, the story is fun and at the end you even get a recipe to make your own carrot cake which I’m sure we’ll try soon.
