A move and a bank holiday

From offer to a move has taken nearly five months, and now we are finally here, moved into our new, very own home. It’s glorious, from the feeling of wooden flooring underfoot, downstairs in the morning, crisp and nordic, to the space age extractor fan in the bathroom. The house has many wonderful details which charm me every time I pass them in my day to day. Our relationship with the house has deepened, we saw it’s bare bones during renovation, and now we have no doubts as we say ‘I Do’ to moving our lives here.

So early last week we moved, and then we unpacked and as we unpacked the brown boxes seemed to multiply, our possessions wrapped like christmas presents inside. The sun shone on our endeavours and I felt that our arrival was blessed. Our nearly south facing garden filled with sunlight for us to picnic in when inside was too chaotic to contemplate.

Then came the bank holiday, and on Saturday we had a little time off from unpacking. We took a  trip to The National Trust’s Tyntesfield to meet with my Auntie and Uncle, and my cousins son.

We paused our unpacking mission for another day on Sunday and I cooked a family Sunday lunch in my new, glorious, duck egg blue range. Mr Purples Mum, Grandma from the pink house, and sister, Auntie Sue came as our first guests. Of course Easter Sunday calls for an egg hunt, and the Easter Bunny didn’t disappoint.

Today we made one final push and added some extra shelves, and an under stairs office for Mr Purple. We’re down to just a handful of brown boxes which for one weeks work is amazing.

Tomorrow life’s usual rhythm returns as Mr Purple goes back to work and the boys to school. My first longer school run in the morning, 20 mins walk instead of five, but looking at the positive it’s a chance to build more activity into our lives. More walking = more cake. I hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday weekends as much as we did, feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you got up to.
